BYOD and The Stock Market Game

Students in Action with their device - using technology to follow a passion and interest! Approximately 85 students are investing and monitoring their ranking in the SIFMA Stock Market Game competition on a daily basis this Fall. Currently there are 1,003 competitive teams in the state vying for the status top Investor and winner. Students in Sports & Entertainment Marketing classes and Introduction to Business classes are using their mobile device and BYOD to access this dynamic game. Many students can be seen in the lunchroom, hallways and in class looking at their standings, investing and making decisions about what investments to make next. BYOD enables students to stay engaged during and after class. BYOD is used often in the computer lab because the app is often faster than using the lab computers. Approximately 40-50% of students are using BYOD to further their interest in the Stock Market.

Please Take my Survey

Thank you!

Take each other's Survey

Please paste your tinyurl in the comment section.
You are responsible to take each others' survey as well as the survey I created.

Remember you must take these surveys with accuracy!
Have fun.

Creating a Survey

I am building my survey now. I love surveys. Yes I know it sounds very weird but I love the design and trying to get answers from people. Using Google Forms to create a survey is a handy tool. The data collection and live results that come as people complete a survey are fascinating.

I hope you enjoyed learning a new tool. Think of ways you may use this personally as well as educationally for projects or as a method for collecting data. Data, as we are learning comes in all forms and has so many uses in every aspect of our lives.

Welcome

Brief welcome message.
Lots of new experiences await you in Computer Apps this year. We are adopting new curricula and will be experimenting with new web 2.0 tools. We will try to cover computer applications as we explore computer science. Good luck to everyone.

March 28th

I've seen a lot of growth. I've seen a lot of effort and I've seen a lot of trial and error. What you will continue to hear me speak about is learning and experimenting and not being afraid to try something. Everyday new apps and tools become available to us and there is typically no user manual that goes with them. Being computer literate means to me that you can navigate around any new site and figure out how to make it work for the purpose you need. Being able to adapt and be flexible are important characteristics when trying to successfully navigate this Web 2.0 world in which we live.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday weekend.

Class Blogs

So.... we all have blogs in class. Please make them fun, interesting, creative or all of the above. We will read them and nobody wants to read dull writing. Usually a good blog post doesn't depend on length but depends on interesting comments, opinions and/or news.

Please feel free to adjust your blog anytime at home or at school.
On my blog I will follow all your blogs.
I am expecting you to follow me as well as 5 other student blogs. You must have a mix of male and female blogs authors.

I am looking forward to what you have to say in your blog. I sure hope someone has a Boston Bruins Blog.
In fact that will be what I write about next in my blog.
